Position Overview

The role holder is responsible for providing economic analysis and decision support for assigned UK Producing, Development and Exploration assets
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Safety - Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy

Financial - Carries out duties in a way that maximises value and minimises waste and risk.
Functional

Economic Analysis & Management Decision Support



Prepares economics in support of development options selection, major development project investment decisions and participates in NSGP Stage Gate Review process
Prepares economic evaluations for assigned UK assets in support of well PAFs, the Annual Operating Plan, the Strategic Plan, Annual Reserves Review and other key business processes.
Conducts sensitivity analyses and demonstrates key value drivers and economic risks
Participates in ad-hoc projects such as Decision Analysis, Economic Lookbacks on major expenditures to assess capital efficiency, Commercial Negotiations Analytical support
Along with other team members participates in the on-going development of the business units economic and modelling standards and implementation of corporate standards

Methodologies & Working Practices

Works in accordance with the Project Evaluation Guidelines (PEG), the Exploration & Appraisal Evaluation Guidelines and other Corporate Policies and Standards
Proactively and collaboratively works with Project Managers and Asset Teams to ensure all economic inputs & assumptions are complete, transparent, integrated and of high quality
Ensures full & easily accessible audit trail between economic outputs, models and technical inputs as well as proper documentation of all assumptions and results
Provides input to key activities on a timely basis and in accordance with project timetable
Demonstrates a commitment to economic modelling excellence and to continually providing excellent insightful analyses & work
Collaboration - Collaborates with others in the team and looks for opportunities to leverage their network and work with others to develop safe, practical and effective solutions
Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously develops ways of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with Nexen project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews
Capability Development - Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

Requirements:
Education & Experience

Undergraduate or Post Graduate degree in an relevant subject (e.g. Engineering, Geosciences, Business, Economics)
MBA (desirable)
Previous Oil & Gas Industry experience within a Petroleum Economics Role
Experience of UK Oil & Gas industry and an understanding of its commercial and technical characteristics
An in-depth understanding of the upstream UKCS fiscal regime and some exposure to international fiscal regimes
Strong economic modelling & analytical skills
An ability to communicate economics analysis results to a variety of audiences (multi-disciplinary teams, senior management, co-venturers)
Some experience in decision & risk analysis
Advanced computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office software skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint.)
Previous experience of using economics software packages (e.g Palantir) & Risk Analysis tools, an advantage
