Well Engineering Lead (Completions, Workovers & Well Equipment)

This is full-time position in the Canadian Operations group and will report directly to the Manager, Operations Engineering. This role involves the scoping, design and planning of completion and well servicing projects in a multifunctional team environment. The Well Engineering Team responsibilities include design, cost estimation, equipment selection and program preparation of Completions and higher cost / risk well interventions. The Well Engineering Lead role includes setting of priorities, allocation of resources and post-project reviews with recommendations to improve performance and design. This position will require the individual to be well organized and able to handle multiple well interventions of different types at any given time. The successful individual will be introduced to a large variety of different completion, workover and well maintenance environments to broaden their experience and technical capabilities.

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

• Support and mentor the Well Engineering Team in scope definition, benchmarking, designing, planning, estimating and programming completions on a variety of well types and architectures
• Provide engineering expertise to support the design phase of completion and workover programs, and provide day to day engineering support during the execution phase.
• The successful candidate will work closely with several teams in a collaborative environment, including Well Engineering, Drilling, Production Engineering and the Asset Teams (Development Engineers & Geoscientists) to scope, design and plan well completions and to program complex well construction and interventions.
• Application of appropriate existing and emerging technologies.
• Drive and develop continuous improvement strategies toward improving capital efficiency and adding value to Canadian Operations
• Liaise with Enerplus U.S. operations to share experience and learnings to drive operational efficiencies and improvements
• Coordinate the engineering team to effectively support a broad range of completion and workover projects throughout the Canadian Operations
• Provide reporting on key performance indicators for the Well Engineering Team
• Coordination of project reviews and supporting the failure analysis and well equipment design improvements for high cost operating wells.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Management on procurement strategies, manage service contractor relationships, invoice approval and dispute resolution
• Support the Enerplus ongoing program of Safety, Risk Management and Operational Excellence

Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

• A strong candidate will be considered for this leadership position and a Degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
• Minimum 10 years of related experience in completions and workover operations throughout the WCSB (Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin)
• Complex well completions, planning and implementation including experience in multi-frac horizontal well completion execution
• Collaborative, communicative style with a team oriented attitude and work philosophy with a strong ability to facilitate discussions to achieve solutions and the ability to motivate others
• Mentoring and technical leadership skills
• Results-driven with strong communication skills
• Demonstrated project management skills along with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
• Proven in problem solving and decision-making capabilities
• Strong working knowledge of all completion types and techniques as well as artificial lift systems utilized in the WCSB
• Knowledgeable in regulatory and compliance requirements
• An understanding of drilling, geology, reservoir, and production operations
