Husky’s Heavy Oil and Gas Business Unit Operations Engineering team is looking for a professional and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for providing proactive technical support to the Lloydminster Heavy Oil and Gas (HOG) business unit. A key focus is on stewardship and leadership for the numerous surface facilities from single well batteries to large heavy oil cleaning plants. Your technical expertise will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations and designs from a mechanical perspective. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Lloydminster area.
Specific responsibilities will include:

Supporting Husky's management-of-change policy through design, evaluation and approval of proposed changes to existing facilities
Identifying and implementing opportunities for operating cost reduction and optimization
Troubleshooting and optimizing upstream processing facilities and equipment
Providing technical support to operations staff on day to day operational equipment issues
Providing technical support to project leaders at front-end (phases 1 and 2) of projects
Reviewing engineering drawings and providing technical expertise
Participating in HAZOP, P&ID reviews, incident reviews and other related QA/QC/HSE tasks as they relate to mechanical systems

Requirements:
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or mechanical technologist diploma
A registered "Professional Engineer" or "Engineer-in-Training" designation recognized by APEGA/APEGS or “Registered Engineering Technologist” or “Professional Engineering Technologist” recognized by ASET would be desirable
5 years of related experience
Experience in the petroleum industry, preferably in oil and gas operations
Working knowledge of piping codes B31.3 and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z662 is preferred
Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel code is preferred
Good technical knowledge and understanding of rotating equipment
Working knowledge of Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources (MER) rules and regulations is a definite asset
Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Highly motivated with a positive "can-do" attitude, and desire to grow job responsibility
