Position Description

Primary purpose:
Serve as sales and marketing representative for assigned business group in the Gulf Bulk Region for the purpose of development of new business opportunities while maintaining/expanding existing customer business.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Develop and maintain close business relationships with existing and potential business customers to effectively market company services in support of established goals and objectives.
•Respond to all service inquiries within service area and provide timely rate quotes for new and existing customer accounts.
•Negotiate services, rates, and commitments to customers in order to develop and execute customer contracts.
•Secure approval and signatures on Letter and Terminal Service Agreements as applicable.
•Coordinate effectively with Operations, Legal, EH&S, Engineering, Regulatory and other internal/external resources to identify and address various aspects of contract commitments and requirements.
•Provide assistance to support customer service, accounting and other KM functions to assure satisfaction of products and services, customer collections and adjustments, logistics, etc.
•Provide sales/marketing support for acquisitions and expansion projects for the region.
•Communicate effectively and regularly with management on market trends, business prospects and inquiries, customer issues, goals and objectives.
•Work closely with Terminal Managers to maintain scheduled Quality Meetings for Key Customers at each assigned Terminal.
•Provide customer revenue projections for annual budgets for each area Terminal.
•Responsible on a regional basis for assigned Commodity base and take part in Corporate Commodity calls along with being the lead on rate development for these commodities
•Responsible for maintaining Customer Inquiry information on the Regional opportunity list.
•Manage customer site visits, and act as liaison between customer and terminal operations group.
•Establish Key Performance Indicators for services provided to customers and Customer Dissatisfaction Report for all customer complaints and follow up on corrective actions.
•All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Position Requirements

Education:
•Bachelor’s Degree; Business, Finance or Engineering - MBA a plus

Experience / specific knowledge:
•Minimum of five years professional work experience in commercial sales and marketing, operational management or logistics in the bulk commodity, warehousing and/or transportation industries.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:
•Valid Driver’s license.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups during sales calls, presentations and other meetings utilizing written, verbal and listening skills.
•Proficient in the use of a PC, Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc).
•Knowledge of basic products, modes of transportation, methods of handling, and business practices associated with vessel, barge, rail and truck transportation and bulk storage services and commodity customers.
•Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving complex economic/financial models, issues and problems.
•Ability to maintain regular, dependable attendance, valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
•Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervision, focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules.
•Successful completion of background checks and post offer/random drug screens. TWIC required depending upon location.

Physical demands:
•While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger and handle; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to walking, driving a vehicle and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Working conditions:
•Basic office environment with frequent day and overnight travel.
•Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed and required.

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Education: Prefer 4 year degree in Business, Marketing, Operations Management or similar area. MBA a plus.
•Experience: Experience using Lawson operating system software.
•Experience in bulk commodity or liquid terminals or with steel related industries.
