Description:
As the fully qualified/professionally designated level of the engineering job family the focus of this position is to provide technical engineering support in a field or fields of engineering throughout the planning, design, procurement, construction and start-up stages of the project lifecycle within assigned engineering units.


Responsibilities




Provides a variety of engineering related technical services in either the broad field of engineering or as the first level of specialization to assigned internal client groups for major projects planning, procurement, development, construction and maintenance activities by:

Independently providing technical support as a member of a team, e.g., project design, bids, permits, routing, crossings, risk, construction of pipelines and facilities, compliance sign-off, pipeline integrity, etc.

Coordinating smaller parts of larger projects

Acting as the representative of the assigned engineering unit on internal and external committees and task forces

Ensuring that in-house and contractor/engineering consultant portions of projects comply with applicable enterprise policies, procedures, regulations and engineering standards, e.g. ERCB, NEB and other regulatory requirements, safety, environmental, right-of-way, risk and compliance

Overseeing assigned discipline specific project costs, schedule and scope

Facilitating communication between engineering consultants and appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure technical issues are addressed in a timely manner

Directing the specification and requisitioning of materials and equipment within assigned area

Monitoring project activities including cost and schedule within assigned area and providing timely updates to management.

Ensuring activities in assigned area are completed within financial and schedule constraints

Providing support and engineering input to Business Development engineering during project development

Providing direction/input in the tender, analysis and award of engineering and construction contracts

Providing project field support during construction and commissioning activities

Provides operational support and leadership by:

Assisting in ERCB, NEB or other regulatory compliance documentation, filing and audits

Supporting and assisting with statistical and historical data, e.g., reporting, updating and maintaining appropriate databases, etc.

Assisting with the continuous improvement of the enterprise’s engineering systems and processes

Ensuring company best practices are implemented in design activities

Requirements:
Qualifications




Engineering degree in an applicable discipline

P.Eng designation required

Four to seven years of related experience

Aptitude and communications skills related to acting independently as a fully qualified professional engineer

Technical and working knowledge of internal and industry design and construction codes and standards

Proven planning, organizational, problem solving, decision – making and negotiating skills, supplemented with a practical aptitude

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
