Position Overview



The successful candidate will support the newly formed Canada Business Unit Water Team and its mandate to satisfy the increase in activity and water demand in 2016 and beyond. The specific objectives of the Water Team in 2016 will include and not be limited to 1) ensuring alignment between the Asset Team Plan, water sourcing and disposal, 2) preparing for Asset pilot and early development, 3) preparing to identify various sources of water for all Assets and 4) delivering water infrastructure in 2016 Plan.


Responsibilities



Oversee multi-discipline engineering activities to ensure Facilities Projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner
Define the Project Design Basis and Execution Plan, associated cost and schedule estimates and communicate same to all Stakeholders
Maintain HSE/OI focus within the team to ensure associated requirements are incorporated in design and procurement process
Execute the design related portion of assigned projects within scope of practice as needed
Monitor, analyze, forecast, proactively correct as necessary and communicate project performance (safety, quality, cost & schedule) to achieve project objectives
Follow-up on and ensure closure of all identified risks, associated mitigation measures and opportunities
Prepare regulatory applications and associated audit binders
Prepare Scopes of Work for Construction Contracts and Construction Work Packages
Support the evaluation of bids for Procurement of Equipment, Materials and Construction Services Contracts
Organize and Lead Pre-Job Construction Kick-off Meetings
Support Construction work on day to day basis during Execution Stage and Operations as needed during start-up
Provide Facilities Technical support for opportunity planning, evaluation, definition, execution, Operations and Maintenance
Be required to work in Engineering Contractor’s office approximately 1 day/week and in field 6 days/quarter

Requirements:
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:



Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Registration in AB - P. Eng required.
10+ years’ experience designing and/or constructing and/or operating Water Infrastructure including but not limited to Storage Ponds, Water Pump Stations, Water Pipelines, etc
A diploma/technology degree combined with applicable experience will also be considered
Demonstrated technical skills as required to successfully execute Infrastructure Projects
Strong team work skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with Discipline Engineers, Designers, Supply Chain Management, External Relations, Road & Lease Construction, Drilling & Completions, Construction Supervisors, Operations, Development Engineers, etc
Results driven self-starter comfortable to liaise between people having highly technical experience, expertise and focus to minimal technical experience, expertise and focus
Able to identify, control and manage risks, changes, safety, quality, cost & schedule and sometimes conflicting priorities in an organized manner and often time-constrained environment
