YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
As an Electrical Engineer with the MFT (Mature Fine Tailings) Team at Horizon Oil Sands, you will be an essential source of expertise, providing professional guidance and technical support in construction and operations. Your strong and proven experience with electrical standards affords you the opportunity to hold a significant position within this team as you will be responsible for design, construction, integrity and operations, in addition to the ongoing development of electrical standards and specifications for operations at Horizon.

This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary

To support the growth of Canadian Natural's Horizon Oil Sands, this position may be assigned or require business travel to various contractor workplaces or to the Horizon Oil Sands site during project phases for extended periods.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Provide direction and design review for electrical systems for all phases of the project including conceptual design, detailed design, construction, and commissioning and start-up
• Develop and review project design standards and specifications, equipment data sheets and plant layouts
• Participate in bid package preparation as well as the review of various bids for EPC phase of the project
• Work with EPC’s in the development of all engineering deliverables, EDS and detailed engineering related to area of specialty
• Ensure construction conforms to the approved Construction Work Package plans and specifications
• Review electrical systems in various services of the Upgrading and Bitumen Productions plants
• Prepare detailed engineering including cost estimates for work proposals and review of bid packages to contribute to increasing CNRL cost efficiency and production
• Develop, review and communicate electrical engineering plans within the Project and coordinate work efforts with other areas of the Project
• Review, develop and provide input for all engineering standards and specifications relating to electrical equipment for the project
• Provide engineering support and guidance while working with management, engineering, business development and contractor personnel for all phases of the project including design, construction, commissioning and operation
• Review and audit project work that will contribute to improving reliability, safety operability and maintainability as well as make recommendations for changes to both new and existing structures

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 10+ years of electrical engineering design experience with Bachelor of Engineering specialized in an Electrical discipline
• Registered as a P.Eng with APEGA
• Expertise in:
o Construction support
o Modular e-houses
o Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) Software
o Electrical Transient and Analysis Programs (ETAP)
o Field Acceptance Testing (FAT)
o Schedules and trends
o Electrical standards and designs (72kV, 5kV, low voltage)
o Business communication protocols
